What's New for 2024?

The GMC 2500 and 3500HD receive a midcycle refresh this year. There are new LED headlights and taillights, a revised powertrain with more towing capacity, and an all-new trim.

The new trim, the Denali Ultimate, is more luxurious than the Denali, offering leather-wrapped door panels, a steering wheel, and 16-way power-adjustable front seats. As for the revised powertrain, GMC has enhanced its Duramax turbocharged diesel V-8, so now it outputs 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Kansas City drivers will also find the V-8's revision has boosted the model's towing cap for the Sierra 3500 to 22,500 pounds.

Performance

GMC offers two engines for its HD models: one gas and one diesel. A 6.6-liter gasoline V8 with 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft of torque is standard, while a turbocharged 6.6-liter diesel V8 engine with 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque is optional.

With these engine options, the 2500 and 3500 can easily tow around 36,000 pounds with a gooseneck hitch.

Technology

Across its six trims, Topeka residents will find the Sierra 2500 and 3500 HD offer a slew of technology. Base models have pretty basic features like manually adjustable trailer mirrors and manual windows and door locks. While higher trims have amenities like LED headlights and taillights, a Wi-Fi hotspot, an integrated brake trailer controller, a high-definition backup camera, and more.
